Katherine Beard (1926-1990) was a nationally recognized pianist, instructor of piano and composer of more than 100 books and pieces. She authored numerous textbooks on piano pedagogy and piano technique and was a guest lecturer for several universities and music teachers' organizations. A specialist in preparatory classes, Ms. Beard was a consultant to piano teachers on methods and materials for students of all ages. Ms. Beard's advanced piano training was at The Juilliard School, where she studied piano with Gaston-Marie Dethier and composition with Igor Beketoff.
