Carrie Kraft (1961- ) of Jamestown, North Dakota, is a teacher, composer, arranger, accompanist, church musician, adjudicator, and clinician. She is active in local, regional, and national music teachers’ and composers’ associations. She has accompanied the Jamestown Choralaires male chorus for twenty-three years, and also directs the Gardenette Senior Citizens Choir.

She is a major writer for Noteworthy Publications, and also has works published in the Warner Bros/Alfred and Kjos catalogs. She is nationally recognized for her piano and her choral works. She grew up in Valley City, ND, where her mother, Carole Flatau, was her teacher. She has a degree in piano performance from the University of North Dakota.

In addition to being a full-time teacher in her home studio, Carrie is a full-time fan of the Minnesota Twins. Her husband, Dean, is a teacher at Jamestown High School. Their daughter, Laura, will be a freshman there this fall. Laura is an avid golfer, and Carrie attends as many golf meets and tournaments as she can work into her schedule.

Carrie runs every day (several miles). Their family cat, Callie, brings Carrie “presents” from outdoors that she saves in a special box (papers, ribbons, whatever). She is very active in her church and the community, and also is helpful in many musical ways to her mother.
